      Hi,

We have a Jersey based client that we were acting for in the purchase of some land in the UK. They sent us some monies on account in 2020. The money came in from the company. The transaction did not go ahead and the matter has become abortive. We now have just over £7000 left on the client a/c that we need to return to the client. However, on contacting the client, he informed us that the Company had been dissolved and the company bank account closed. Therefore, we won’t be able to return the money to the account it came from. We contacted the SRA who referred us to the Bona Vacantia department.

They said “In order to provide you with the relevant information, we must ensure that we have jurisdiction to deal with this matter. I will, therefore, require you to advise me of the full company name together with the company registration number and the date of dissolution of the dissolved company in question.”

As this isn’t a UK company we have been unable to find this information on the Companies House website. We have contacted the client to try and obtain this information, but he isn’t returning our calls or e-mails. Any suggestions on where we go from here?

      Hi Libby,

Have you tried searching the Jersey Financial Services Commission?
