We open them all in the DECD name but add the executors as additional contacts. Our case management system has specific fields for executors.

This allows us to link all matters from Will to probate – any related conveyancing matters are opened the same to keep it all under the same umbrella.

It’s not perfect because the user has to manually pick the executor when issuing bills or letter rather then send them out to the decd but it’s the best way we’ve found to keep tabs on related matters.

    Hi

I tend to use 30 days as my golden rule for returning funds including unclaimed BACS receipts.

If it was suggested 8 weeks until the related purchase I also would make sure they return the funds straight away.

A good process for this kind of stuff is to throw it out to this forum see what everyone comes back with then base your decision on the responses and include it in your accounts manual.

I find it holds a lot of weight when I tell my accountants in my annual audit that it was agreed in the ALCA community.

    Morning All!

I thought I’d try and get a response from Natwest (Bankline) on our sale proceeds question.

They were very evasive and would not commit to an answer just kept referring me to their FAQ’s section which shows the list of 6 codes used for property and then a link to Bank of England full list!

I mentioned this forum and the two suggestions in it and they said probably best to go with leave it blank!

Just wondered if anyone else has had more success?

    Thanks

    Phil.
