We’ve recently had a change in our partnership (a new partner joining), so we need to complete a VAT2 form. However, the version available online can’t be filled in electronically—it has to be printed, completed by hand, and signed by all partners.
This is quite cumbersome, as I’ll need to arrange for all partners to sign individually. Am I missing something, or is there a more efficient way to handle this?
Thank you

I don’t think you’re missing anything Zoe, however…..
Several years back we submitted a VAT2 (edited in Foxit) and we’ve had no pushback because it wasn’t handwritten.
Much easier to maintain going forwards, and only wet signatures to source for each change in the partnership!
Best.

You’re not missing anything; the situation is unfortunately as awkward as it seems.
The VAT2 form is still largely a manual, signature-based process. Unlike many newer HMRC services, it hasn’t been fully modernised for digital submission because a change in partnership legally alters the liable persons for VAT and each partner must formally acknowledge joint and several liability. That’s why they insist on “wet ink” signatures rather than simple online confirmation.
